This October, the Design Museum invites us to delve into the fantastical mind of Tim Burton through its exhibition, The World of Tim Burton. To celebrate the opening, we are delighted to welcome the exhibition’s curator Maria McLintock to The Soho Hotel for a special Fashion & Cinema event.

Maria will take a look at Tim Burton's long-time collaboration with costume designer Colleen Atwood, which has brought to life a host of unique and fascinating misfit characters, defined by Burton’s distinctive aesthetic and penchant for the grotesque. This includes Beetlejuice 2, his latest film, and Alice in Wonderland (2010), for which Atwood won one of her four Academy Awards for Best Costume Design.

Hosted by writer and curator Keith Lodwick, the talk will take place in our screening room and will be followed by a showing of the iconic Edward Scissorhands (Tim Burton, 1990), which marked the beginning of the decades-long collaboration between the filmmaker and Colleen Atwood.

After the talk, head upstairs to The Soho Hotel's lively bar and restaurant, Refuel for dinner or a drink. Featuring a varied menu of British classics alongside more modern seasonal dishes, it's the perfect spot for a post-talk catch-up with friends. Tickets for the talk and dinner are £70 and include a three-course dinner and a glass of wine or soft drink on arrival.
